Placement Testing

The UAFS Academic Success Center (ASC) offers placement testing options to help determine students鈥� readiness for college-level coursework. Depending on their program and placement needs, UAFS applicants and students may complete ACCUPLACER Next-Generation or Math Up 鈥� ALEKS PPL testing. Review the options below for information about each assessment, testing procedures, and available resources.

 

More Information

The ASC administers the ACCUPLACER Next-Generation tests, which are computer-based examinations to efficiently assess reading, writing, and math skills. Individuals may be required to take ACCUPLACER Next-Generation tests for placement purposes.

The ACCUPLACER is not timed but, on average, takes approximately one hour per section to complete. For more information or to take practice tests, visit the website.

The ASC administers the ACCUPLACER to UAFS applicants and UAFS students. If you have not applied, you may do so here.

Whether you are testing in person or remotely (see below for more information), you must schedule your appointment or request a voucher by clicking the 鈥淪chedule and Pay for Your Exam Here鈥� button in the left navigation.

Testing Options

  1. In-person testing in the ASC. Applicants must present a valid photo ID on test day. High school or concurrent applicants who do not have a photo ID must complete the and bring it on test day with a photo attached and signed by a notary or school official. Valid forms of ID include driver's license, state ID, school ID, passport, and student ID form. Valid forms of ID include: Driver's license, State ID, School ID, Passport, or Student ID form.
  2. Remote testing online with ProctorU. You will receive an email from ACCUPLACER within two to three business days detailing how to schedule your exam with a live ProctorU proctor. Please note that ProctorU charges an additional $28, which will be paid to them directly (not through the payment link above). For instructions, please refer to the Starting Feb. 1, 2026, the remote proctoring fee will be $29.50.

Math Up - ALEKS PPL tests are computer-based examinations to efficiently assess and improve math skills. Individuals may be required, or opt, to take Math Up - ALEKS PPL tests for placement purposes instead of the Accuplacer Math test.

Math Up - ALEKS PPL tests are not timed. They take approximately half an our to one hour to complete per attempt on average. Each Math Up 鈥� ALEKS PPL test offers five attempts. After one attempt, you will be given modules to work through on your own time before you come back to the ASC to take your next attempt.

Math Up 鈥� ALEKS PPL gives you the opportunity to raise your math placement score by showing you which areas need improvement and giving you time to work through modules before attempting.
