2023-2024 Events

Join us as we celebrate our first full season of the newly named Stacy Jones Season of Entertainment: Legacy. The 2023-2024 season honors the legacies we cherish and contemplates the legacies we seek to leave. 

This year鈥檚 performances include Henrik Ibsen鈥檚 classic play, 鈥淎 Doll鈥檚 House,鈥� Francis Poulenc鈥檚 celebrated composition, 鈥淕loria,鈥� the beloved musical 鈥�9-5,鈥� modern jazz, and seasonal favorites, all honoring life and legacy. and be transported to a world of joy, beauty, and imagination!

Jan. 30, 2024:  Music Faculty Showcase

The music faculty at UAFS will give individual and joint performances in this collaborative performance you鈥檙e sure to enjoy! This performance will take place at the First Presbyterian Church, 116 N. 12th St. in Fort Smith. Admission is free, but a ticket is required to attend. 
 






 






Mar. 7-9, 2024:  9 to 5

 Decorative

A comedic and empowering story, "9 to 5" is based on the 1980 movie of the same name and features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. It centers on the working lives of three women, Violet, Judy, and Doralee. They all work at Consolidated Industries, a place of low morale due to its current person in charge, the sexist, lecherous, and pompous Franklin Hart. Tickets are just $10. Admission is free to UAFS students, faculty, staff, and members of the 60+ Club.

Apr. 9, 2024:  Wind Ensemble

The UAFS Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Alexandra Zacharella, will perform works featuring a variety of styles and moods, from upbeat marches to dramatic and contemplative concert works. This performance will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at the in Fort Smith. Admission is free, but a ticket is required to attend. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Apr. 16, 2024:  Jazz Band

 

Decorative 

The Jazz Band concert will feature a vast variety of charts representing many styles of jazz, including swing, Latin, and blues. This concert is sure to be high-energy and fun! Student members will be featured soloists and everyone is welcome. This performance will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at Breedlove Auditorium on the UAFS campus. Admission is free, but a ticket is required to attend. 

 

 

Apr. 18, 2024:  Jazz Catz (Vocal Jazz)

The UAFS Jazz Catz, a 10-member vocal ensemble, will be accompanied by a rhythm section to present a diverse show featuring a wide variety of songs, including jazz standards, blues, classic rock and pop, ballads, Latin, and more. This concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday April 18, at the Grace Community Church, 4001 Brooken Hill Drive in Fort Smith. Admission is free, but a ticket is required to attend. 
 

Apr. 23, 2024:  A Grand Night for Singing

Grand Night for Singing is the grand finale of choral singing at UAFS for the 2023-2024 concert season. It will feature the UAFS Men鈥檚 and Women's choruses, Leonis Chamber Singers, and special guests from in and around Fort Smith. This concert is designed to be a celebration of choral singing in all its forms so you will hear a diverse collection of music from contemporary choral favorites to modern pop tunes and musical theatre. The performances are always enjoyable and moving. Don鈥檛 miss this eventful evening full of recognizable tunes and the thrilling sounds of unified voices singing together.

This performance will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at the in Fort Smith. Admission is free, but a ticket is required to attend.
