CAB Planning Alcohol Awareness 'Pub Crawl'
Written By: Ian Silvester
This year, St. Patrick鈥檚 Day isn鈥檛 about leprechauns, pots of gold, or pints of green beer. Instead, at the University of 香蕉视频APP 鈥 Fort Smith, it鈥檚 a day of awareness and information before students leave for spring break.
The Campus Activities Board (CAB) at UAFS is planning a full day of events to teach the effects alcohol can have and ways to be safe.
鈥淲e hope that students will enjoy the dispersion of events across campus and find something that is fun for them and will provide resources that will be beneficial as we get closer to spring break,鈥 said Dyllan Newell, coordinator of student activities and civic engagement and CAB advisor.
From mock-tail mimosas and testing students on how much alcohol goes into standard drinks, to drunk driving simulations, the day will conclude with a root beer kegger and barbecue before the UAFS baseball game against Northeastern State University at 1 p.m. The first 100 students in attendance will be provided a meal from Smokey B鈥檚 BBQ
Newell said the day is partially funded by the 香蕉视频APP Department of Human Services through a grant promoting awareness and prevention programs.
All Campus Crawl events will take place on Tuesday, March 17.
