Advising

  • Each semester after the is published, the advising season begins.
  • Before the schedule is released, students will receive communication from their advisor with instructions on how to schedule an advising appointment.
  • All students are required to meet with their advisor each semester to review their academic progress, plan courses for the upcoming term, and discuss any questions about course sequencing, degree completion timelines, or university policies.
  • During the advising appointment, the advisor and student should also review any holds or pending items that could prevent registration.
  • Once the advising meeting is complete and all holds are cleared, the student is ready to register for classes.
  • To ensure the best appointment times, students are encouraged to schedule early. Advisor availability becomes limited as we approach Registration Week. Appointments can be scheduled in

  • Registration Week marks the official opening of the registration window for each term. Students may register any time after their assigned Registration Appointment time.
  • Registration Appointments are found in the Academics hub of Workday with the specific date and time.
  • Registration week is the preferred time to register to ensure enrollment in the preferred sections and avoid being placed on a waitlist.

  • For details on registration timelines and dates please refer to the Academic Calendar.

Are You Ready to Register?

Follow these steps to ensure a smooth registration process.

    • Schedule and attend your advising appointment to review your academic progress and plan your courses for the upcoming term.
  2. Have an Up-to-Date Academic Plan
    • Work with your advisor to make sure your Academic Plan in Workday reflects your intended courses and degree progress.
  3. Create a Saved Schedule
    • Use Workday to build and save your preferred class schedule ahead of time for quicker registration once your window opens.
  4. Check for Holds
    • Verify that you have no holds that prevent registration. Holds can be viewed in your Academics Hub in Workday.
  5. Know your Registration Appointment

  6. Register in Workday
    • Once your registration window opens, log in to and register.

Registration How-To

Students can register three ways in Workday.

By saving your preferred class sections ahead of time, your full class schedule for the next semester is already built. This feature also allows you to register in the Workday Mobile App.

  • Once your registration appointment opens:
    • Go to the Academics Hub
    • View your Saved Schedule
    • Click “Registerâ€

View Saved Schedule QRG

This method is similar to using the Saved Schedule but requires more time and attention on the day of registration.
Registering from the Academic Plan allows students to see the Academic Requirements for the upcoming term and choose their preferred courses that meet those requirements.  This option allows for some flexibility to compare class times and section options before registering.

  • Go to the Academics Hub
  • View My Academic Plan
  • Click “Register from Planâ€
  • Review the course offerings that meet each requirement, select your preferred sections, and click “Register."

View Academic Plan QRG

If you are unable to use a Saved Schedule or Academic Plan, you can manually search for and register for specific course sections.
To register this way:

  • Go to the Academics Hub
  • Open the Planning and Registration
  • Click Find Course Sections to search and register.

Making Changes

Do you need to drop a class before the term starts or make a change to your schedule? Students can Drop or Swap classes in Workday on the My Enrolled Courses tab with the Actions button

  • Drop allows you to remove the selected course entirely from your schedule
  • Swap allows you to remove that course and add another in its place- this could be a new section or meeting time for the same course, or a different course entirely. Once this swap is processed, your My Enrolled Courses will update. You can use this guide for details on how to Drop and Swap in Workday.
